BOULDER, Colorado – Kyle Davison, a member of the North Dakota Senate, has been appointed to the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education.

WICHE’s Commissioners are leaders in higher education and include state higher education executive officers, college and university presidents, legislators, business and community leaders, and other key partners. Together, they guide WICHE’s strategic direction and assure that the Western Regional Compact is carried out for the benefit of the West.

Davison has served as a senator in the North Dakota Legislature since 2014 and represents District 41 in south Fargo on the appropriations committee. In his first three legislative sessions, he served on the education and government veterans affairs committees, serving as chairman in government veteran’s affairs in the 2019 session. In this role, Davison will be one of three North Dakota Commissioners governing WICHE’s portfolio of higher education programs, research, and policy work.

WICHE President Demarée Michelau said both Davison’s legislative and work experience in education and workforce development will advance WICHE’s commitment to serving student needs in the West.

“We welcome Sen. Davison to the WICHE Commission as he brings a unique perspective on many of WICHE’s initiatives regarding workforce development, education policy, and veterans affairs,” Michelau said.

Davison is also the executive director of the South East Education Cooperative (SEEC). He has held that position since July 2005. The SEEC serves 36 school districts, nearly 38,000 students, and over 3500 teachers by providing support to schools in areas such as professional development, business services, special education, and curriculum development.

“It’s an honor to be on the WICHE Commission. I look to continue to build on his work on strengthening our North Dakota Higher Education and workforce development collaborations across WICHE states,” Davison said.
