Washington State University recognizes out-of-state students with exceptional academic ability. This four year award is offered to top incoming first-year and transfer students. The WUE is awarded to non-resident, first time, first-year students and transfer students meeting transfer credit requirements. First-year students with an unweighted cumulative high school GPA between 3.7 and 4.0 and transfer students with a cumulative college GPA between 3.7 and 4.0 may be eligible for the Distinguished Cougar Award/WUE, valued at $15,000 per academic year. Those with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.69 may be eligible for the Cougar Award/WUE, valued at $12,000 per academic year. Qualified students receive the award automatically but must have a complete application for admission by March 31.
